Thanks to Air Jamaica, I've come back more stressed and tired than when I left. The delayed outbound flight and two-hour wait to clear immigaration were bad enough - but I was then part of a large group of passengers who were "bumped" from the return flight because it was overbooked. In any other business, taking money for something you know you can't provide would be classed as fraud -- but not, it seems, if you are an airline. After we had waited for several hours at Montego Bay, the incompetent and surly check-in staff finally admitted what the problem was, and carted us off to a hotel some five miles up the road. The next day, we got on a flight to Kingston -- which was delayed. Fortunately, the connecting flight to London was also delayed ... by four hours. We eventually arrived some 29 hours later than scheduled. I understand that the delay at Kingston was caused because a lady had travelled to Jamaica with a two year-old child seated on her lap. While she was there, the child had had a birthday, so it was now three. The airline deemed that the child was now too old to travel on her lap, so they tried to chuck her off the plane. She found another seat (OK, it was in first -- but it was still a seat, and it wasn't her fault that the problem had arisen). At that point, they called the police and had her arrested. I won't be going back to Jamaica again
