Travelocity False Advertising of hotel reservation
USA, Arizona
Fri, 06/06/2008 - 05:05 - World Traveller
Category: Online Travel & Travel Agents
Who : Yahoo Travel
What : Reliability, Information, False Advertising
Travelocity had an ad on Yahoo Travel. It said "Stay 2+ nights in Arizona, Save $50" However, when you click on the link, there is no info on the deal, it just shows a bunch of available rooms - I couldn't find anywhere that the $50 would come off.
I called customer service.
After spelling and respelling my name several times (is ANDY hard???) to the person who spoke broken English, I told him my issue. He replied that the ad was supposed to say "Stay 3+ nights". I replied that that was fine, because I was planning on staying 4 nights. He then said it was not available at the hotel I wanted, and in fact the hotel wasn't even available (even though here it is days later and their site still shows this hotel as available).
I emailed customer service and they replied that the offer was "2+ nights" but it was only at selected hotels, and you had to use a Mastercard to pay for the full amount.
The ad did not say anything about "selected hotels" or "restrictions may apply"
This seems to me like false advertising. I feel as though they were just trying to lure me to the site to get me to pay more.
After several emails resolved nothing.
