Ryanair are not helpful when needed

Treviso to Stansted FR 799. About 10 minutes after our flight was scheduled to depart, an announcement was made over the intercom that the flight was cancelled and that passengers were to retrieve luggage and then line up to reschedule or obtain a refund. The line was quite long and during the hours that we waited to reach the front, we were given no additional information. Having had no prior experience with Ryanair, we expected that we would be put up in a local hotel, since it was quite late and we were stranded. All airport concessions were closed and not even water was offered. When we finally reached the window after midnight, the employee told us that the best they could offer us was a flight the next afternoon about 4:30 to Liverpool - not our original destination of London - and that passengers were on their own paying for transport from Liverpool to London. One of our group was supposed to fly to the US from London in the morning and would miss his flight, a very expensive proposition, so we declined the flight to Liverpool and asked to use a phone (to arrange a new flight, inform relatives why we would not be arriving, and to get a hotel). This request was refused and we were simply abandoned. They blamed the delay on the weather, because under their terms and conditions weather takes them off the hook for any liability to assist us. This was a costly and upsetting situation. When I expressed my shock at Ryanair's refusal to help us in any way, the employee told us, "This is what happens with a low-cost airline - you made the choice."
